JoAnn (McCluskey) Slaney

Born and raised in Southeastern Massachusetts. In my 20s, while working on a master’s degree, I suddenly had the overwhelming drive to learn quilting. I didn’t know any quilters at the time, so honestly cannot identify the origin of that need to quilt. After earning that MBA, I learned to piece quilt tops and machine quilt on a domestic machine. I then taught machine quilting for 8 years at a local quilt shop. Wanting an easier way to quilt my larger quilts, I took the plunge with a Gammill Longarm and launched QuiltingJo. After a several year break, I’ve started my retirement plan a little early, adding a HandiQuilter with ProStiticher to my studio & relaunching QuiltingJo in 2023. There are still so many more quilts to make, to bring comfort and warmth. I hope to help as many others as possible finish their own quilts.
